| As you may have noticed, I've been spending a lot of time with a beautiful woman named Francine.
I asked her out, and she said yes. :)
To answer the question I've been getting a bunch of times already: yes, I had been planning to stay single until I went to grad school. But, I realized that I was using that as an excuse to not commit.
I've actually had similar issues come up with other things, where I decide to not do something now, so that I have the chance of doing something else later. I've decided to stop doing that; "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" as the saying goes.
And, the other thing I realized is that I'm actually willing to consider a Long Distance Relationship with Francine. That's something I've almost never been willing to consider, until now.
So, yes. This is your official notice. :)

| Worked out with my trainer last night, and was totally dead almost instantly (as in, after we started working out). My only thought for why is that I'd taken a class beforehand (which shouldn't have been very tiring). Needless to say, though, it was frustrating. Two nights ago I was doing my last set of fly's with 50lbs dumbbells. Last night I was having a hard time lifting 35 lbs ones. (Though I was doing more reps, but that was for my first set!)
I'm still drained from the workout, even after having eaten breakfast. But, one cool thing: I got up this morning and I went into the bathroom, and saw really light lines on my abs.
I was like "? ... !"
Not exactly the "ripped abs of steel and a six pack" I was hoping for, but any progress is good. Especially since I've been feeling like I wasn't making any further progress. | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
| I sent that email to a number of people, including three of my old teachers at Paly (the high school I attended in Palo Alto). Unfortunately, none of the emails to those teachers went through; I had old email addresses for them. So I looked at the Paly website and found their email addresses, and resent it to them. This time, taking merkuron's advice, I wrote individual, customized emails, rather than sending it to all of them at once like last time.
I got a response back from Mac aka Mr. McNulty, and it really sums up why I wanted to send this email in the first place.Greg:
No need to re-introduce yourself, I remember you well. Your comments about the English class are most kind.
One of the great joys of my chosen profession is to see and hear the success stories of current and former students. That's why your e-mail is so welcomed. I would love to tell you I'm surprised by your enthusiasm and industry, but that would be untrue. One of the things I remember most is your incredible organization and attention to detail. It's easy to remember because so few young lads and lasses possess those qualities to the same extent. It's obvious you took those assets to the next level.
Thanks so much for the update, Greg. I truly appreciate it. Keep it rolling, there's no end to your possibilities.
Best,

| Just found out that Daft Punk will be playing at Coachella! Tickets are incredibly expensive at $85 for one day (or $165 for both days). But I'm willing to pay $85 to see Daft Punk live!
Tickets are available starting February 4th @ noon. I will probably be buying at least one for myself, possibly one for Rob, if he's interested. Anyone else interested in going? I'm gonna be seeing Daft Punk, and at least so far that's the only band on Saturday that holds much interest for me. But, others could most certainly go watch other bands throughout the day.

| Had my review with Adam yesterday! Went well. From the paper they gave me:Our clients have been happy with the code that you have produced, and have in many circumstances asked to have you work on their work again [...] This, as a overall measure, is a very positive sign.
More specifically, both myself and our clients have been impressed at the level of coding and projects that you have turned out. The LPS system has a clean design and has been well recieved by both the higher level and technical staff at [the customer company]. The Mapquest [project] was clearly head and shoulders above what they or Mapquest was expecting, and was delivered when you had little experience here or with the technologies required. The Mapquest project was the one that I had to work on over a weekend.
So yeah, they're very happy. And, I got a ~10% raise (that much, they said, because Cost of Living has gone up, business is good, and payscale in the area and profession has gone up a lot). | comments: 11 comments or Leave a comment |
